CF ECW President's Report   2007  Annual Meeting  Nov 3

The Annual Meeting of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Central Florida was held earlier this month at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s in Orlando.  After a short Meet and Greet session the ladies had a brief business meeting to elect officers before going into the Cathedral for the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Bishop Hugo conducted the service with warmth and sincerity.  The service included the presentation of the Book of Remembrance and special prayers for the ECW organization, a prayer for the late Molly Mundy (St. David’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, in Cocoa Beach and longtime member and treasurer of the Diocesan ECW); and the installation of the new president Brenda Perry (St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach) and her new Board of Directors were installed.

During the business meeting Treasurer, Kay Ikeler (St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Eustis), presented the 2008 budget which was approved and she also awarded individual church members with their certificate of membership in the 2008 ECW.  The churches taken into membership have given to the Gift of Support Fund that in turn gives scholarships to members so that they may attend the Kanuga Meetings and other appropriate events.  This past year two members attended the Triennial on full scholarships.
Immediate Past President, Polly Atkinson, gave her annual report:

“The increase of memberships within the past three years was exceptional:

2005 - 8 member churches

2006-14 member churches

2007-29 member churches

I feel this increase was due to our use of e-mail as a means of communication, the outstanding contribution made by our treasurer, Kay Ikeler, the establishing and maintaining of our web page by Sara Castelli (St. George Church in The Villages) and the establishing of individual Spring Retreats in the various Deaneries.  We also thank the diocesan staff including the Joe Thoma, Editor of the Episcopalian, for publishing articles about our annual meetings, individual articles on various ECW activities, items on the United Thank Offering and The Church Periodical Committee.  The Diocesan ECW sincerely thanks the cathedral staff for making our annual meetings memorable events.”

The day ended with a luncheon and a heart warming presentation by Rebecca Gay, board member and volunteer, for Our Little Roses Ministries in Honduras.

A complete listing of the Board of Directors of the 2008 Diocesan ECW and the topic of the bishop’s homily plus other information will be posted on our ECW Diocesan web page  www.cfecw.org
